Welcome to the FIRST day of Pre-Primary
Welcome, welcome school has begun. Time for work and time for fun. We'll use our hands for fun and play. Pre-Primary has started, hip hip hooray! |
Term One...
Pancake Tuesday
Our Pancakes were delicious and we enjoyed learning about how to make them. We now know that a text that tells us the ingredients and the method for making something is called a recipe.
It is Chinese New Year
This year is the Year of the Dog. We celebrated Chinese New Year at school by making dragons and lanterns, cooking Fried Rice and finding out about which zodiac animal we are. All the Pre-Primary students this year are either a snake or a dragon.
It is Harmony Day
We celebrated Harmony Day with our friends, lots of orange, a picnic lunch and a fabulous concert!!! Check out our classroom displays that celebrate Harmony Day and diversity in our school!
Captain Cleanup came to visit...
His message to us was we should put our rubbish in the bin. We talked about all the things we can recycle and how we can make our planet a cleaner, better place to live. Next term will be doing a rubbish audit to see how much rubbish we make in Pre-Primary in ONE day!!
We are Waste Warriors!!!
In Pre-Primary we do a Rubbish Audit of all the rubbish we collect during the day.
We were surprised how much rubbish we can make, so we have decided to be Waste Warriors.
Please support us in our quest to create less rubbish by sending our lunch free of waste on Wednesdays!

Worms, Worms, Worms
As part of our ongoing focus on sustainability, we have got our worm farm up and running. Did you know that worms love food scraps, so we are recycling our leftovers and giving it to the worms!
First Aid
As part of the Foundation Health Curriculum and in partnership with St John Ambulance we learnt all about what do to in an emergency.
1. We learnt to identify the difference between an emergency and a situation that we can deal with.
2. We learnt what to steps to take if we find someone who is unconscious.
3. We learnt that when we call 000 - we need to give our name, tell the operator who is hurt and where we are.
**Please help me to remember my address by practicing at home!!

Autism Awareness Day
This year marks the 10th annual World Autism Awareness Day. The aim of this day is to take measures to raise awareness about people with Austism. At Winthrop we were allowed to wear something blue and we worked with Bunnings to plant BLUE plants all around our school.
